New: absences, cover and requests in one place
In short
- The new Requests and absences inbox shows wishes, pending requests and the period's absences in one view.
- From a shift opened by an absence you go straight to the search for cover, and the shift is offered to suitable colleagues.
- An absence can be ended early or cancelled with a reason; the history is kept.
- Pending time-off requests and wishes appear on the planning board, where you can approve or reject them.
One list for absences and requests
Here is where the limit shows up: a wish arrives by one route, an absence by another. The web app now has an inbox called Requests and absences. It puts employees' shift wishes, pending leave requests and the current period's absences on the same page. Approving a leave request opens the overlapping published shifts so they can be filled. The details of an absence can be edited in a dialog.
An absence can be ended earlier if the employee returns to work sooner than planned, or cancelled altogether; in both cases you choose a reason. Shifts after the end date go back to the employee, and the shifts that were opened from them are closed. Days that have already been covered cannot be restored. The history is kept.
Finding cover from an absence
On a shift opened by an absence, Find cover opens the dialog directly. The open shift is offered to suitable colleagues, and the offer reaches their phone as an app notification. When someone signs up, the supervisor gets a notification on their phone; if the notification cannot be sent to the phone, it arrives by email.
In the app, employees can choose for themselves whether they may be asked to cover (May ask / Don't ask). Requests already received stay valid.
Requests on the planning board
Pending leave requests and wishes are drawn onto the planning board. You can approve or reject them right there, so you do not have to leave the list unfinished because of another view.
